Purpose Statement
To maintain secure and safe custody of medium-security offenders committed to Redgranite Correctional Institution (RGCI), while providing opportunities to offenders for cognitive and behavioral development to enhance their future potential as productive members of society.

Special Historical Notes and Other Institutional Information
Groundbreaking for the construction of RGCI took place on June 18, 1999.  RGCI encompasses 89 acres of land, of which 22 acres are contained within the secure perimeter.  The secure perimeter consists of two high-security fences that are equipped with razor-ribbon wire and a "shock" or "knock-down" feature.  The institution is tobacco free for staff, visitors, and inmates.  The average age of Wisconsin inmates is 32.
