Purpose Statement
The purpose of Redgranite Correctional Institution (RGCI) is to maintain a safe and secure environment for the medium-security offenders committed to its custody, while providing opportunities for cognitive and behavioral development to enhance the future potential of offenders as productive members of society.
Institution Information
Groundbreaking for the construction of RGCI took place on June 18, 1999. The institution received its first inmates on January 8, 2001. RGCI encompasses 89 acres of land, of which 22 acres are contained within the secure perimeter. The secure perimeter consists of two high-security fences.
